MTV Video Music Awards: And the Nominees Are…

The nominee list for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards was revealed this morning. Rihanna and Drake top the number of nominations with 5 nods each. Katy Perry, who was the big winner last year isn’t far behind with 4 chances at an award.

Performers confirmed for the show include VMA veteran Alicia Keys, and the boys from One Direction, who are first-timers at the award show.

Viewers can vote for their favorites starting today up until August 24, 6p.m EST when voting for all categories, except for “Best New Artist” ends. “Best New Artist” voting continues through the show, which will air September 6th. The show will kick off at Los Angeles’ Staples Center at 8 p.m.
